There are five types of memberships in the KWCSA:
- an Associate Membership,
- a Probationary Membership,
- a Full Membership,
- a Life Membership, and a
- Family Membership.
All members, including those who join through the OFTR website, shall be considered Associate Members until the membership has been activated. When you initially join the KWCSA you will receive a Membership Application / Renewal form, a copy of the Membership Requirements, a copy of the Rules And Regulations, and a Waiver Of Liability. To activate your membership and apply for Probationary Membership if you desire, you must fill out the Membership Application / Renewal form, as well as the Waiver Of Liability, and submit these documents to the Membership Chairperson. A Waiver Of Liability must also be submitted for each family member in a Family Membership, and be properly signed by a parent or guardian for members under the age of 18 years. All members including Associate Members who have no riding privileges must submit a Membership Application / Renewal form and sign a Waiver Of Liability annually.
All memberships must be renewed annually and are based on the calendar year, ending December 31. (Note that the Probationary period is 12 months in duration beginning on the original date of application, and is not based on the Annual Membership period. To remain a Member in good standing, a Probationary Member will likely need to renew his/her membership prior to the end of his/her Probationary period.)
In any case where there is disagreement regarding the interpretation of Membership Requirements, KWCSA Executive reserves the right to clarify the intent thereof.
Associate Membership
- membership fees are $30.00 per year.
- will receive the newsletters and be given website access.
- no voting privileges.
- no riding privileges at KWCSA designated riding areas.
- no requirements for meeting attendance or work days.
- participation is encouraged at KWCSA functions.
Probationary Membership
- membership fees are $30.00 per year.
- will receive the newsletters and be given website access.
- no voting privileges.
- riding privileges granted only while riding with a Full Member in good standing while on club property or at club events.
- must attend four club meetings per year.
- must participate in at least three work days at the Annual Event location, preferably more, each to be a minimum of three hours in duration.
- a three hour work day at the Annual Event location may be used as a substitute for a club meeting attendance, but not vice versa.
- the Probationary period is 12 months in duration beginning on the original date of activation, and is not based on the Annual Membership period. To remain a Member in good standing, a Probationary Member will likely need to renew his/her membership prior to the end of his/her Probationary period.
- at the end of the Probationary Period, club executive will vote on whether or not to grant Full Membership. This will be based on the candidate’s demonstration of responsible membership, and the club executive’s vote shall be final.
Full Membership
- must be 18 years of age and fulfill the requirements for Probationary Membership.
- membership fees are $30.00 per year must be kept current to maintain Full Membership status.
- will receive the newsletters and be given website access.
- full voting privileges.
- must attend four club meetings per year.
- must participate in at least three work days at the Annual Event location, preferably more, each to be a minimum of three hours in duration.
- a three hour work day at the Annual Event location may be used as a substitute for a club meeting attendance, but not vice versa.
- must demonstrate responsible membership.
Life Membership
- must be a club member in good standing for 25 consecutive years.
- membership fee is waived.
- retains all rights and privileges of a Full Membership but is exempt from work day requirements.
Family Membership
- the Primary Member will need to meet normal membership requirements as a Probationary Member or Full Member, as applicable.
- membership fees are $35.00 per year and include membership for the Primary Member, a spouse or significant other, children less that 18 years old, and grandchildren less than 18 years old.
- one vote per Family Membership.
- all family members are encouraged to participate in work days and club functions.
- Primary Member will be responsible for all Family Members under their care while participating in club activities. Repeated failure to properly supervise minors may result in suspension of Family Membership.
Private Riding Land Endorsement
- any Probationary Member, Full Member, or Lifetime Member wishing to ride at the designated riding property must be a member in good standing and pay $100.00 per year for the privilege.
- in the case of a Family Membership, the Primary Member must pay $100.00 per year, and each additional family member shall pay $25.00 per year.
- a 50% discount will be granted when purchased after September 1st .
Work Day and Meeting Attendance Buy Out Option
- Full Members and Probationary Members have the option to “buy out” of the work day and meeting attendance requirements, but this option will not elevate the member’s level.
- The fee for this option will be $200.00 per year.
Volunteer Commitments.
- The KWCSA is run by volunteers and we encourage our members to volunteer in our day to day activities and all KWCSA events.
Vision:
KW Cycle Sport Association is a non-profit organization whose vision is simple: to create a safe, organized atmosphere which members of all ages and skill levels can enjoy, while encouraging participation, sportsmanship and discipline for all our members in an effort to promote the sport of off-road motorcycling and competition.
Rules and Regulations:
· All members must respect and enforce the Rules & Regulations
· Misconduct affecting any, or all, club members will not be tolerated
· All riders must be KW Cycle Sport Association members (as per membership rules)
· Membership card must be available at all times while attending KWCSA meetings, social events and/or ride days
· All members ride at their own risk
· A minimum of 2 riders on premises at all times (Buddy system: No buddy, no riding)
· Motorcycles must not be louder than 96db maximum (Less sound = more ground)
· Minors under the age of 18 yrs must be accompanied by a parent/guardian
· Parents/Guardians are responsible for minors at all times
· Helmets and other protective equipment must be worn at all times while riding a motorcycle
· No drug or alcohol consumption with intent to ride
· Stay on predetermined tracks/ trails
· No recreational laneway riding
· All pets must be kept on a leash and are the owner’s responsibility. Pet owners must “stoop and scoop” to clean up after their pets
· Pit riding and connecting trail speed limited to 5 km/h maximum
· No stunt riding in pit area
· No littering (what you bring in, you take out)
· No trespassing on adjacent properties
· Respect the environment and the community (property and its neighbours)
· Remove helmet when speaking to a member of the local community (A face is as important as a name)
· Members who invite a potential member, or members, to ride at a KWCSA event may do so only on designated days, while assuming responsibility for the potential member, or members, and will be held responsible for any and all violations to the Rules and Regulations, as will be the potential member
· The use of all-terrain vehicles is strictly prohibited, except with explicit authorization from the KWCSA Executive, for the sole purpose of property maintenance
· All members must check the KWCSA Notice Board for current information and updates
Rider’s safety and responsibilities:
· All members must be aware of the Emergency Services Information (911/Fire Route #)
· Prior to attending a KWCSA designated property, all members must report to the designate their intent to attend, including the following information: names of all members expected to be in attendance, date, and expected times of arrival and departure
· It is the riders’ responsibility to familiarize themselves with the tracks and trails with regards to direction, safe entry and exit points, terrain, obstacles and hazards
· All rider’s must not assume that the tracks and trials are exactly the same today as they were the last time they rode them
· For everyone’s safety, a sighting lap is recommended as the tracks and trails may have been altered, obstacles may have been created by man and /or nature, or the pre-determined direction changed
· All riders, motorists and pedestrians must obey the posted signage (Stop, Yield, Merge, etcetera)
· For everyone’s safety, riders must exercise extreme caution where tracks and trails intersect
· All riders must ride the track and trails in the pre-determined direction, as displayed by arrows
· Members of all skill levels share the track and trails, and respect and patience may be required
Discipline:
It is not the desire of the KW Cycle Sport Association to administer discipline towards its membership, but to maintain a level of respect within the Association and communities, and to preserve the privilege of having a place, or places, to participate in the sport of off-road motorcycling:
· A non-official complaint shall be considered a member to member discussion (example: Can you please slow down in the pit areas?). If the violating member refuses to comply with the request an official complaint can be presented in writing to the Executive
· If a violation is deemed to be serious enough by the majority of the members present, the violating member’s privileges may be suspended temporarily until an official complaint can be presented to the Executive for review and ruling
· All official complaints shall be dealt with through the Association’s Executive in writing
· The Executive reserve the right to administer discipline immediately or at the member’s (or members’) annual membership evaluation(s)
· Administration of discipline by the Executive shall be binding
· The violating member may have the opportunity to defend his/her position
· Should the violator’s membership be that of a Family Membership, discipline may be administered as an individual, or as a family, at the discretion of the Association’s Executive
· Should the violator be a minor, his/her parent/guardian may speak on their behalf
· Violations will be considered by the Executive at the member’s annual membership evaluations which may affect eligibility for future membership
· Violations of the Criminal Code of Canada involving the KW Cycle Sport Association may result in disclosure to legal authorities and immediate expulsion
Potential Escalation of Discipline:

7. EXPULSION FROM THE ASSOCIATION WITH NO REFUNDS (FAMILY)
8. IMMEDIATE EXPULSION WITH NO REFUND
